I believe healing happens in the context of connection.

We need love and connection to thrive, but unfortunately face traumas that keep us from the healthy relationships we deserve –with others and with ourselves. I also believe that the systems we exist in are designed to keep us from living our most authentic lives. Therapy helps to rewire unhelpful beliefs, gives us the tools to navigate relationships more effectively, and supports finding peace within ourselves.

I am certain that healing can come from establishing a genuine relationship based on trust and unconditional positive regard. It is important that you feel and know that I am deeply invested in learning you, supporting you, and growing with you. From this place, we will explore your past relationships, as I believe they will give us insight into what your current points of struggle are. We will also connect with the body, which I believe holds a unique wisdom needed for your healing. Then, I will walk with you as we discover solutions in order for you to live a life more aligned with your authentic self, desires, and goals. We will mostly use conversation to do this but might implement other tools, specially when processing trauma, such as IFS, EMDR, mindfulness and breath-work. Your health and happiness is important to me, and I am privileged to help guide you in your journey toward healing.

As a cisgendered white woman, I am dedicated to unlearning my internalized bias, racism, and prejudice. I seek to dismantle systems of oppression in my work as a therapist and in my community. My ultimate goal is to be a safe space for BIPOC and queer clients to discuss the role of race, gender, and sexuality in their therapeutic work.

My Approach

About AL

I am originally from Austin, Texas so my southern roots run deep but I have been living in Seattle for over a decade. I have a pug named Jelly who is my world—you might see her in sessions! I love to cook, dance heels, walk through city parks, play Animal Crossing, watch reality TV, protest, imagine worlds with my niece, and cuddle my friends. I am a proud, out lesbian love being surrounded by and learning from queer and trans pals. I also really love what I do.
